Vintage Iron Parts

Our team has been passionate about rebuilding and restoring antique machinery for a long time. With this experience, we know that finding usable parts for these machines can sometimes be nearly impossible. This issue led to Vintage Iron Parts being created.

Our Goal

Vintage Iron Parts aims to preserve and support the legacy of pre-1929 tractors and engines by providing the highest quality, American-made replacement parts that keep these historic machines running for generations to come.

Vision

Our goal is to be able to find parts for any tractor with ease, and not let a lack of existing parts halt projects in their tracks. We are trying to make antique engines run beautifully and last for generations to come with high-quality replacement parts identical to the ones that were used on these engines for generations.

Our Process

How we bring these parts back to the market

3D Modeling and Design

When we find a part for which we cannot find a replacement, we decide to make one. Our team of engineers use measurement tools, ranging from calipers to a critical measurement machine, and obtain accurate model dimensions and feature placement. From there, the part is modeled on a CAD software, along with necessary components (such as a core box, if needed, and patterns).

Foundry Preparation

After the part is modeled, we print the pattern of the part on our top-end 3D printer. Our printer has custom settings to ensure the highest quality of a print, as well as ensuring all details are captured. We print both halves of the pattern separated, and then epoxy them together using dowels to hold them in place. From there, they are primed and sent to a foundry to be cast.

Foundry and Post-Machining

The part is cast at a foundry in Wisconsin, then back to our machine shop in East Jordan, Michigan. From there, the quality of the parts is inspected and the machining begins. Our team of experienced machinists trim the parts to their proper sizes and add all necessary features. Once the parts are finished, they are tested to ensure fit, then posted to our website for sale.
